About Jungla de Panama
A family-led wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and release center founded in Palmira in 2010.
How Jungla began
After 25 years of professional animal-rescue work in the United States, Dorothy moved to Panama with her three children and planned to retire. That changed when people in the local community began bringing her wildlife that was injured, abandoned, abused, neglected or in need of long-term care.
Jungla de Panama grew from that first need into the center it is today.
Rescue
Your support helps us provide urgent rescue, medical care, and immediate safety for wildlife in need.
Rehabilitate
Your donation helps animals heal, regain strength, and return to the wild whenever possible.
Protect
For animals that cannot be released, your support provides lifelong sanctuary, care, and protection.
Independent and community supported
Jungla de Panama is a nonprofit corporation and is fully licensed by the government of Panama. Jungla is primarily self-funded and relies on donations, visitor support, sponsorships, lodging and community contributions to continue its work. Jungla receives no government funding.
What you will find
The center includes a large monkey enclosure, bird aviaries, designated animal-interaction areas and spaces for animals to graze. Every visit is shaped by the animals’ current care needs.
