Food, safe habitats, medicine, veterinary care and long-term rehabilitation all cost money. Some animals can be released. Others cannot safely return to the wild and remain permanent residents at Jungla.
Macaws
Casey & Patron
Casey is a handicapped scarlet macaw who cannot be released. Patron, a green-wing macaw, was rescued after people in the Darién repeatedly plucked his feathers until he could no longer produce them.
Stories like theirs are why Jungla needs long-term sponsors, not just one-time visitors.

Daisy
Daisy arrived after years of abuse and spent about seven years being rehabilitated.
Daisy became a long-term resident. Her safety today is the result of years of care.

Parrots, cats, dogs, ducks, chickens, monkeys, owls, macaws and peacocks all become part of the work.
Jungla’s residents are not limited to the headline animals. The center also cares for parrots, macaws, monkeys, owls, peacocks, companion animals and farm animals that have needed a safe place.

Jungla has rehabilitated and released vultures, owls, toucans, kinkajous, monkeys, squirrels and other wildlife. Every successful release is proof that care can lead somewhere beyond the sanctuary.

Are all rescued animals released back into the wild?
